Distribution Code
All modification proposals to the Distribution Code, tracked through their lifecycle. Administered by the Energy Networks Association.
How DCode modification proposals work
The Distribution Code (DCode) sets technical requirements for connecting to and operating on distribution networks (132kV and below). It covers engineering standards for distributed generation, demand connections, protection settings, and power quality. The Energy Networks Association (ENA) administers the code through a Distribution Code Review Panel (DCRP).
The change process
Modification proposals go through Workgroup assessment, Consultation, and Decision stages. Any code party can raise a proposal for consideration by the DCRP.
Key concepts
- DCode interacts closely with the Grid Code (transmission-level technical standards) and DCUSA (commercial distribution arrangements).
- The code is expected to merge with the Grid Code and SQSS into a single electricity technical code under Energy Act 2023 reforms.
