- NESO has raised three urgent CUSC modifications in tandem: CMP474 and CMP475 to create a formal mid-period reset mechanism for the Fixed BSUoS price after the £300m Working Capital Facility came under strain, and CMP471 to let queue holders adjust connection dates before the April 2027 liability trigger. All three close on 25 May (CMP474/475) or 30 June (CMP471).
- DESNZ has opened three Capacity Market consultations ahead of July 2026 Prequalification: a second higher price cap for new-build dispatchable plant, a route for CfD-directed units to keep CM agreements without double-subsidy, and an evidence call on how to categorise hydrogen-to-power plants and revise interconnector de-rating factors.
- DESNZ granted development consent for RWE's 3 GW Dogger Bank South (two 1.5 GW arrays, up to 200 turbines) and the ~1 GW North Falls offshore wind farm (SSE/RWE JV, 57 turbines off East Anglia), and directed that National Gas Transmission's 420 km Project Union East Coast hydrogen pipeline be treated as an NSIP requiring a DCO.
- Ofgem put traders on notice that withholding interconnector capacity to drive auction price spikes breaches the Electricity Regulation prohibition on capacity hoarding, citing observations from 2022-2026 auctions; it's a warning shot rather than a new rule, but signals enforcement intent.
