iGT UNC

The iGT UNC (Independent Gas Transporters Uniform Network Code) governs gas transportation on independent gas networks, meaning pipelines not owned by the four Gas Distribution Networks (GDNs). Independent Gas Transporters (iGTs) operate networks that typically serve new-build housing developments and commercial sites. Gemserv (now Talan) administers the code.

The modification process

Any party to the iGT UNC can propose a modification. Once raised, the iGT UNC Panel decides whether to send it to a Workgroup for development or handle it directly. The Workgroup produces a report, and the Panel then votes. Modifications that could materially affect consumers, competition, or the gas market require an Authority Decision from Ofgem. Self-Governance modifications are decided by the Panel alone.
