National Energy Efficiency Data-Framework (NEED) report: summary of analysis 2026
Summary
DESNZ will publish the 2026 NEED report on 11 June 2026, analysing household energy consumption from 2005 to 2024 against energy efficiency measures. This is a pre-release announcement; no data is available yet. NEED links meter-level gas and electricity consumption to property characteristics and insulation measures installed under government schemes.
Why it matters
Useful baseline for measuring whether efficiency programmes reduce consumption, but does not change any rule, charge, or market structure. The data may inform future ECO or insulation programme design but has no direct bearing on wholesale markets or grid investment.
