Household Energy Efficiency Statistics, headline release April 2026

DESNZ·data_release·LOW·23 Apr 2026·source document

Summary

DESNZ publishes monthly ECO4 installation statistics covering measures delivered through February 2026. ECO4 has been extended by nine months to 31 December 2026, giving suppliers additional time to meet existing targets and remediate non-compliant installations. Data covers measure types, costs, geographic breakdowns, and estimated bill savings.

Why it matters

ECO is a supplier obligation that redistributes costs from bill-payers to fuel-poor households. It does not change market structure, charging methodology, or what can be built. The nine-month extension signals suppliers are behind on delivery targets.

The scheme began in January 2013, and over time it has been amended. | | | | | | | ECO3 commenced on 3 December 2018 and concluded on 31 March 2022. ECO4 is the four-year scheme replacing ECO3, originally covering the period from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2026. The ECO4 Order came into force on 27 July 2022. In August 2025, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero consulted on proposals to extend the ECO4 end date, as set out in Extending the ECO4 end date: consultation document. One of the policy decisions from that consultation was that ECO4 will be extended by nine months, ending on 31 December 2026, to allow suppliers additional time to meet existing targets and remediate non-compliant installations. | | | | | | | Installations between 1 April and 30 June 2022 could be counted as either 'ECO3 Interim Delivery' or 'ECO4 Early Delivery'. More information on this interim delivery phase is available from Ofgem in their document 'Draft ECO4 Guidance: Interim Delivery', available here: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications/draft-eco4-guidance-interim-delivery | | | | | | | Publication dates | | | | | | | The data tables in this spreadsheet were published at 09:30am Thursday 23 April 2026. | | | | | | | The next publication will be at 09:30am on Thursday 28 May 2026. | | | | | | | Data coverage | | | | | | | Data covered in this release is for delivery to the end of February 2026. | | | | | | | Data covered in this release is for Great Britain. | | | | | | | Methodology | | | | | | | Information on the methods used in the analysis for this release are available in the Further Info sheet, and two separately published documents (Methodology Note and Background Quality Report) both available here: | | | | | | | https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/household-energy-efficiency-statistics-methodology-note | | | | | | | Notes on any significant revisions and/or changes to the analysis method are also available in the Further Info sheet. | | | | | | | Units, notes and no data | | | | | | | Some cells in the tables refer to notes which can be found beneath the tables on each worksheet. Note markers are presented in square brackets, for example: [n1]. Some cells have no data, when this is the case cell is left blank. An explanation of why there is no data is given at the top of the worksheet. Some column headings give units, when this is the case the units are presented in round brackets to differentiate them from note markers. | | | | | | | Contact Details | | | | | | | Press Enquiries to the Press Officer: 020 7215 5975; or the newsdesk: 020 7215 1000 | | | | | | | Responsible Statistician: Darren Stillwell / Tom Joss | | | | | | | EnergyEfficiency.Stats@energysecurity.gov.uk | | | | | | | 07860 511211 / 07741 701212 | | | | | | | This workbook was updated on: | 23 April 2026 | | | | | | The next update for these statistics is: | 28 May 2026 | | | | | ### Contents | Table of contents | | | | | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Publication date: | 23 April 2026 | | | | | Data period | January 2013 to February 2026 | | | | | Geographical coverage | Great Britain | | | | | All figures are provisional and subject to revision. | | | | | | Table Number | Table name | Last updated | Next updated | Release | | Further Info | Further Info | | | | | Overall Summary | Overall Summary | | | | | Monthly Summary | Monthly Summary | | | | | Charts | Charts | | | | | Map1 | Households in receipt of ECO measures by Local Authority per 1,000 households | | | | | Map2 | ECO measures installed through Flexible Eligibility, by Local Authority | | | | | ECO Measures installed and households | | | | | | Table 1.1 | Number of Measures installed and unique households receiving a measure through ECO, by installation month | 23 Apr 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 1.2 | Number of unique households with an ECO measures installed, by ECO phase and month | 23 Apr 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 1.3 | ECO3 measures installed, by installation month | 29 Aug 2024 | N/A | Headline | | Table 1.4 | ECO4 measures installed, by installation month | 23 Apr 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 1.5 | ECO3 measures installed, by measure type | 29 Aug 2024 | N/A | Headline | | Table 1.6 | ECO4 measures installed, by measure type | 23 Apr 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 1.7 | ECO measures installed, by measure type and phase | 23 Apr 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | ECO carbon, bill and energy savings | | | | | | Table 2.1 | Estimated carbon and energy savings through ECO | 24 Nov 2022 | To be confirmed | Headline | | Table 2.2 | Estimated deemed lifetime bill savings for ECO3 measures by installation month | 29 Aug 2024 | N/A | Headline | | Table 2.3 | Estimated annual bill savings for ECO4 obligation | 23 Apr 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | ECO measures installed (quarterly time series) | | | | | | Table 3.1 | ECO measures installed, by measure type, by quarter | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 3.2 | ECO measures by property main fuel type (pre-measure) and by quarter | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 3.3 | ECO measures by nation and region, by quarter | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 3.4 | ECO measures by administrative area | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 3.5 | ECO Affordable Warmth measures installed via Flexible Eligibility, by administrative area | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 3.6 | ECO measures by Parliamentary Constituency | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 3.7 | ECO measures by Measure Type by Parliamentary Constituency | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | ECO Households (Quarterly time series) | | | | | | Table 4.1 | Households in receipt of ECO measures by nation and region, by quarter | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 4.2 | Households in receipt of ECO measures by property type, by quarter | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 4.3 | Households in receipt of ECO measures by tenure, by quarter | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 4.4 | Households in receipt of ECO measures by administrative area | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | Table 4.5 | Households in receipt of ECO measures by Parliamentary Constituency | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | | ECO costs | | | | | | Table 5.1 | Estimated ECO costs, by obligation, as reported by energy suppliers, by quarter | 26 Mar 2026 | To be confirmed | Headline | | Table 5.2 | Estimated average ECO3 delivery costs as reported by energy suppliers | 23 Jun 2022 | To be confirmed | Headline | | Table 5.3 | Estimated average ECO4 (not including ECO3 Interim) delivery costs as reported by energy suppliers | 26 Mar 2026 | To be confirmed | Headline | | Table 5.4 | Estimated ECO3 costs, by obligation and by quarter | 23 Jun 2022 | To be confirmed | Headline | | Table 5.5 | Estimated ECO4 costs, by obligation and by quarter | 26 Mar 2026 | To be confirmed | Headline | | Green Deal | | | | | | Table 6.1 | Cumulative number of Green Deal Plans in domestic unique properties, by month | 26 Feb 2026 | 28 May 2026 | Headline | ### Further Info | Further information | | --- | | © Crown copyright 2026.
