CfD Stakeholder Bulletin — 17 February 2022

DESNZ·notice·low·17 Feb 2022·source document

Summary

DESNZ published all five potential timeline scenarios for CfD Allocation Round 4 after stakeholder feedback. The qualification assessment window runs until 25 February 2022, when National Grid ESO will inform applicants whether they qualify to participate. Timeline after this point depends on whether any applications are rejected.

Why it matters

Administrative transparency update that does not change allocation mechanics or pricing. The timeline variation based on qualification outcomes reflects the administrative burden of managing appeals rather than market-driven allocation efficiency.

Key facts

  • Application window closed 14 January 2022
  • Qualification assessment window concludes 25 February 2022
  • Five potential timeline scenarios now published

Contracts for Difference: Stakeholder Bulletin 17 February 2022 Allocation Round 4: All potential timeline scenarios published All potential timeline scenarios for Allocation Round 4 (AR4) are now available to view on the AR4 microsite. It has been possible to view the longest and shortest possible timelines for the round on the microsite since August 2021, but following stakeholder feedback, all five potential scenarios have now been published. Following the AR4 application window closing on 14 January 2022, National Grid ESO is currently reviewing applications against the relevant qualification criteria. This stage of the AR4 process is called the ‘qualification assessment window’. The qualification assessment window concludes on 25 February 2022, when National Grid ESO will inform applicants whether they are eligible to participate in the round. The AR4 timeline after the qualification assessment window will initially depend on whether there are any non-qualifying applicants. If there are non-qualifying applicants, the shortest possible timeline for AR4 will no longer be applicable. Further updates on the progress of AR4 will be provided via the AR4 microsite and this bulletin as the round progresses.
